The Crossing’s Rich History
Local legend suggests that the Indigenous people in the region utilized a low point in the Ghost River as a ‘Crossing’, to facilitate hunting and trade, as well as a major access route for the region. In later years, The Crossing would connect and aid the early explorers, traders, and settlers in many of the same ways. In more recent years, The Crossing can trace its roots back to the Canadian Pacific Railway lands, and, after changing hands several times, began operating as a Retreat and Learning Centre in the mid 1970s.
